Enkloze is a relatively new name in the luggage industry. As the story goes, a group of consultants who travelled a great deal got the idea to make a better suitcase on a flight from LAX to Tokyo in 2014. Their company moto is "Created in California - Designed in Japan".

Moto aside, they have informed me that they are based in Los Angeles , have a repair center in Long Island City, New Jersey and most of their cases are manufactured in China - that is how they can offer high quality aluminum suitcases at such low prices.

Enkloze currently sells four different models of suitcases and we are pleased to say that they are all hardsided zipperless designs. A company after our hearts... Do not be thrown by the Carbon X1 that has a zipper on the exterior compartment.

The Enkloze Klasik has been receiving rave reviews online and is being compared favorably with the much more expensive Zero Hallibuton and Rimowa lines. Most notable in these comparisons is the expense. Many reviewers are impressed with the Klasik's robustness and durability but at a much lower price than similar cases from the competition. Most of the Klasik Aluminum cases cost around $500 less than the competition.

What we know about this suitcase... The Enkloze Klasik is made from a 100% aluminum-magnesium alloy. This is the exact same material that Zero Halliburton and Rimowa use in their suitcases. A clever and distinctive cross-hatch design embossed into the exterior shells provides even more strength to the case.

The Klasik also uses an aluminum frame for added support. It also features aluminum reinforced corners to resist denting. These materials and design features combine to make the Klasik a very strong suitcase.

The locking and latching mechanisms are extremely secure. Most aluminum suitcases use only two locking latches but Enkloze has added an additional third non-locking latch for absolute security protecting against accidental "pop-opens". The three latches are semi-recessed into the aluminum frame system.

Enkloze tells us that the interior is fully lined with an easy to clean nylon fabric. The interior dividing system contains four zippered pockets - three of which are mesh pockets so you can easily see what's inside. The two divider panels are easily removed at the click of a latch.

Frequently asked questions:

Does the finish on the Enkloze Klasik scratch?

Each case has a protective coating to prevent scratching but aluminum is a soft metal so some scratching will occur over the lifetime of the case. The cases made with the black finish tend to show scratches more than the silver colored suitcases.

Is the Enkloze Klasik better than the Rimowa Classic?

Yes, for the price the Enkloze Klasik provides more features and a better interior finish than the Rimowa Classic while remaining equal in terms of materials. Don't get us wrong, we love Rimowa but the Enkloze Klasik is just so much more affordable.
